Description

Exploring InDesign CC

This book is a hands-on reference for creating e-publications with inDesign CC featuring over 550 screen prints to walk you through the process of creating and editing content with InDesign.  There are 300 pages alone of examples of basic InDesign features such as:

· The workspace (panels, tabbed document windows, toolbars)

· Document and page setup, master pages, layers, liquid & alternate layouts

· Text & graphic frames (including linking frames)

· Paragraph, character, & object styles, and cross reference formats

· Links, hyperlinks, tables and cross references

· Table of contents and indexes

· Color panel and swatches

· Working with multiple documents – synchronizing styles, numbers

· Folios (for DPS publications) and interactive features incorporating:

o HTML5

o Edge Animate

o Animations, buttons, page transitions and object states (slide shows)

o Video

o Folio overlays and folio builder

There are no files to download; instead you build everything from the ground up giving you confidence to immediately begin working with InDesign.  The majority of the 59 examples are all-inclusive so that you can jump to the chapter you're interested in and immediately complete that example.

Throughout the book, references and links to related topics, weave the material together to provide a solid foundation.  The 17 page index is a quick reference that includes InDesign terms, as well as the layman's equivalent – for example type vs. text or leading vs. line spacing.

The InDesign book panel is a powerful tool to organize and work with documents, but a regular InDesign document is all you need to export to PDF or EPUB and the focus is on features that work equally well with all formats.  Begin with the detailed examples showing you how to import text from the clipboard or Microsoft Word to create a simple InDesign document, or create your own document(s) and add a table of contents, hyperlinks or an index for a more complex book.

The last chapter provides specific requirements for each online publisher and outlines the process of creating a publishing account, submitting books, and of course monitoring your sales.  Your finished InDesign files can be exported to PDF or ePUB formats which are accepted by these publishers listed below, or you can upload your folios to Adobe's Digital Publishing Suite.
